If you’re searching for polyurethane rubber washers, you’ve probably noticed the terms don’t quite line up — “polyurethane,” “PU,” and “rubber” seem to describe the same part. They don’t: buyers are often comparing two different material chemistries without realizing it, and that difference drives durability, cost, and how the washer holds up in your application….
Standard rubber O-rings don’t last long in abrasive, high-load, or dynamic environments. They extrude under pressure, wear through in cycling applications, and lose their seal well before the rest of the assembly needs service. Polyurethane is the usual upgrade path — but once you start comparing polyurethane o rings, the real question isn’t whether to…
Most buyers start specifying a custom polyurethane gasket the same way: pick a durometer, sketch a profile, request a quote. At Pepson, we start somewhere else entirely — with polyol chemistry. That single decision caps the gasket’s usable temperature range before durometer, profile, or anything else about the design gets locked in, which makes it…
A seal can be cut from the right material, at the right hardness, from the right supplier, and still leak. That’s usually not a material problem — it’s a fit problem. Get the dimensional tolerance wrong, or pick a durometer that doesn’t match the operating conditions, and even a perfectly formulated elastomer or TPU will…
An unexpected seal failure rarely announces itself in advance. A gasket that held fine in testing starts weeping oil six months into service, a hydraulic cylinder loses pressure mid-cycle, or a sealed enclosure lets in enough moisture to short a board — and now you’re troubleshooting downtime instead of running production. Most of these failures…
If you’re comparing PU tube against standard rubber or PVC tubing for a pneumatic, fuel-line, or fluid-transfer job, you’ve probably noticed many manufacturers answer with a spec table instead of a reason to pick one durometer or formulation over another. That gap matters more than it looks — the same general material family covers everything…
Buyers ask for a “4×8 polyurethane sheet”. No caster pours that format. The envelopes actually quoted are 38.5″ × 122.5″, 50″ × 138″ and 48″ × 144″. Sizing starts at the mold, not the order form — so start from the stock forms and envelopes. Custom polyurethane sheets are cast elastomer stock made to a…
When you spec a cast or stock polyurethane sheet, rod, or block for a precision application, hardness and tensile strength usually get the attention — but dimensional stability is what decides whether the part still fits after six months on the job. Engineers and buyers selecting cast and stock polyurethane sheets, rods, and boards need…
Metal gears wear at the mesh point. Rubber bushings crack and lose their grip after a few thousand duty cycles. Rollers glaze over and start to slip. When a mechanical component fails this way, the fix is often a material swap rather than a redesign — and polyurethane is usually the material engineers reach for…
Drones don’t sit still long enough for a standard industrial seal to do its job. A flight controller board that vibrates at hundreds of hertz, a battery compartment that swings from ground-level heat to sub-zero cruising altitude within minutes, and a gimbal that has to stay dust-free through every rough landing — none of that…
