Thermoplastic Polyurethane Scraper Blade

Batch of polyurethane scraper blades mounted on a production rack

Key Characteristics:
1. Two Material Grades – Available in solvent-resistant/non-solvent-resistant PU and a rubber equivalent, so you can match the blade to the ink, coating, or process fluid it contacts

2. Broad Solvent Resistance (PU grade) – Standard-grade blades resist trichloroethylene, toluene, and isoamyl acetate; a high-performance PU grade adds resistance to 783 solvent and cyclohexanone

3. Smooth, Bubble-Free Edge – Cast with a smooth cutting edge and no internal voids, for a clean, consistent wipe across the substrate

4. Wide Color Range – PU grade available in natural, red, green, light green, blue, brown, yellow, light yellow, and beige, useful for tracking blade type or grade on a production line

5. Made-to-Size – PU strip supplied at 3,000mm length in widths from 9.5mm to 50mm and thicknesses from 5mm to 20mm; rubber strip supplied in 10m, 20m, and 30m coil lengths up to 1.5m wide

6. Printing and Ceramic Industry Use – Used as ink, ceramic, and textile-printing squeegees and general doctor blades, with broader industrial scraping use across chemical, construction, and packaging settings

7. Hardness: 40A–90A (PU) / 48A–55A (Rubber) – Two grades cover everything from a soft, conforming wipe to a firmer, longer-wearing edge

Product Description

Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Scraper Blade Details

A polyurethane scraper blade is a shaped PU or rubber strip that wipes, meters, or scrapes a coating, ink, or slurry off a moving surface. It’s also called a doctor blade or squeegee. Pepson casts these scraper blades in solvent-resistant and non-solvent-resistant PU grades, plus a rubber equivalent, for ink, ceramic, and textile-printing lines.

Hardness is what sets the two material grades apart. The PU grade runs 40A to 90A. That’s soft enough to flex against an uneven ceramic tile, or hard enough to hold a sharp metering edge under repeated passes. The rubber grade sits in a narrower 48A to 55A band. Standard PU blades resist common solvents like trichloroethylene, toluene, and isoamyl acetate. A high-performance PU grade adds resistance to 783 solvent and cyclohexanone, useful when a printing or coating line switches ink chemistry. Both grades are cast with a smooth, bubble-free edge, so the wipe stays even across the full blade width instead of skipping or streaking.

These scraper blades turn up wherever a moving surface needs a controlled wipe. That includes ink and dye metering on ceramic and textile-printing lines, doctor-blade duty on screen-printing equipment, and scraping tasks across chemical, construction, and packaging settings. Pepson supplies the PU strip at 3,000mm lengths in several widths and thicknesses. The rubber strip ships by the coil, so either can be cut to the working width your equipment needs.
