Product Description

Polyurethane Cable Protector Details

A polyurethane cable protector is a hinged, interlocking cover that shields cables laid across a floor, so people and equipment can cross them without crushing the cable. Pepson makes the full modular set in 91A polyurethane: line, turn, Y, cross, and end modules, in red and yellow or made to your spec.

Here’s how a polyurethane cable protector system works. Each module has a base with cable channels and a hinged cover. You lift the cover, lay the cables in, and close it. Male and female connectors lock one module to the next, so you can build any route: straight runs with line modules, 45° turns with left and right modules, branches with Y modules, crossings with cross modules, and end modules to finish each run. Pull it apart when the event or job is over and reuse it on the next one.

Polyurethane is what makes a cable protector work. It is tough enough for heavy load, springs back after each crossing, resists abrasion, and shrugs off oil and some chemicals. Pepson also lists it as flame retardant and electrically insulating. The reference spec is Shore 91A ±2A. A few model listings quote 90A–95A, and we can adjust hardness on custom orders.

How to Choose the Right Cable Protector Series

Pepson’s polyurethane cable protectors come in four series. They differ in channel count, channel size, height, and rated load. Pick the polyurethane cable protector series by your cables first, then check the load.

  • 5 channels × 33 mm (1.3 in), 445 mm wide, 51 mm tall. The lowest profile and lightest series. It is the only series with cross and Y modules. Line modules are rated 44.5 kN at 21 °C (70 °F).
  • 5 channels × 30.5 mm (1.2 in), 508 mm wide, 58 mm tall. The highest rated load in the range: 89.0 kN at 21 °C (70 °F). It adds 45° left and right turn modules.
  • 3 channels × 55.9 mm (2.2 in), 508 mm wide, 79 mm tall. For thicker cables. Line modules are rated 62.3 kN at 21 °C (70 °F).
  • 2 channels × 81.3 mm (3.2 in), 559 mm wide, 104 mm tall. The largest opening, listed for cables up to 3.2 in (81 mm). The 5-channel series are listed for cables up to 1.2 in (30 mm).

Then run four checks before you order:

  • Cable diameter. Measure your thickest cable, connector included, and pick a channel that clears it.
  • Cable count. Count how many cable runs you need side by side, and pick the channel count that covers them.
  • Load and temperature. Rated load drops as temperature rises. A 5-channel, 33 mm line module is rated 44.5 kN at 21 °C (70 °F) but 26.7 kN at 49 °C (120 °F). Use the 49 °C figure for hot sites or summer sun. If the route carries vehicle traffic, send us the wheel load and route details and we will recommend a series.
  • Layout. Sketch the route and count the line, turn, Y, cross, and end modules. Line modules are 914 mm (36 in) long, so a 10 m run is 11 pieces plus two ends.

Where Polyurethane Cable Protectors Are Used

Temporary power and data cabling is the core use for a polyurethane cable protector. Stages, concerts, and large theatrical performances run cable across the floor for a few days at a time. So do exhibitions, trade fairs, and celebration events. Temporary buildings, construction sites, and structured cabling systems have the same problem: cable that has to cross a walkway and survive foot and equipment traffic. Pepson also lists these modules for parking, tunnel, and railway settings. In each case the modular polyurethane cable protector layout goes down fast and comes up clean.

Custom Sizes, Colors, and OEM Orders

Pepson customizes the size, hardness, channel count, and color of its polyurethane cable protectors, and supplies them under your own brand. Standard colors are red base with yellow cover. To get an accurate quote, send us:

  • A sketch or drawing of the cable route
  • The diameter and number of the cables
  • Expected load, including any vehicle traffic
  • Site temperature range
  • Color and branding requirements
  • Quantity of each module type
